Avara DynaFlex Multiservice Node

Ethernet/IP & TDM Services over MPLS-TP Transport

The DFM is an integrated transport unit providing E1, and Ethernet interfaces transported over either 1G or 10G MPLS-TP optical links. The DFM transport card is an ideal solution to seamlessly upgrade existing mission critical PDH, or SDH transport networks to next generation packet networks with predictable, deterministic performance, and cyber security capabilities..

The Avara DFM has been designed to transform legacy PDH Multiplexer installations into next generation packet nodes by providing a seamless transport system to carry E1 and other legacy interfaces together with high capacity IP or switched Ethernet connections over packet networks.

The product enables existing DynaFlex and Dynanet PDH installations to be upgraded to deliver broadband IP / Ethernet services, whilst maintaining full support for existing PDH/TDM applications seamlessly.

Built on the Avara DynaFlex product line technology, the DFM shares the market leading feature set of DynaFlex bringing a powerful, service-oriented capability to Utility & Rail networks in a range of form factors relevant for critical networks.

With end-to-end service management under the Avara ASPeCT network management system, the DFM greatly enhances transport solutions using MPLS-TP technology.

Using SAToP & CESoP over Pseudowire technology, the DFM platform provides support for a full complement of legacy services including E1, VF E&M, Local Battery, FXS, FXO, Serial, G.703/64K and C37.94 which are available in existing DynaFlex and Dynanet nodes. Additionally, the platform supports voice & data broadcast and summing services together with data grooming functionality providing an ideal transition to packet systems whilst maintaining support for legacy applications..

Features & Benefits

  • Transforms existing DynaFlex and Dynanet nodes into IP/Ethernet nodes with MPLS-TP connectivity efficiently & effectively at a heavily reduced CAPEX cost and minimal OPEX costs.

  • Cost effective migration from SDH-based connectivity to Ethernet networking using MPLS-TP greatly reducing operating expenditure.

  • Fan-less operation and compliance to IEC-61850-3, IEEE-1613 & EN50121-4 ensure fit for use in harsh operating environments.

  • Resiliency & redundancy features supported by the product architecture, such as dual power supplies and multiple controller & trunk units, lead to improved connectivity uptime allowing critical services to be deployed safely.

  • Service aware capabilities provided by Avara’s ASPeCT NMS ensures rapid fault detection and provides commissioning and trouble-shooting features.

  • Uplink speeds of 1Gbps & 10Gbps ensure network scalability as higher capacity services are introduced into the operational network.

  • Long product life cycle ensures investment protection.

  • Modular product architecture provides network deployment flexibility.

  • Multiple synchronisation options ensure TDM service support without data loss for suitability to support critical services such as tele-protection.

The DFM is also available in a small form-factor, stand-alone, wall & DIN rail mountable version that transports E1 and Ethernet services over a MPLS-TP backbone network for green field applications.

These key transport components allow systems integrators to create powerful, efficient and high availability transport networks to enhance traditional systems for supporting the services of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
